Seeburg and AMI began building Jukeboxes during the late 1920, and Wurlitzer and Rock - Ola began during the 1930.

At the end of the 1930 more than 500´000 Jukeboxes operated in America.

The people back Wurlitzer was from Germany, the people back Rock -Ola was from Italy and the people back Seeburg was from Sweden !!
The 1940´s era belonged to Wurlitzer.
The Years after the second World War Wurlitzer produced some fantastic Jukeboxes like 1015, 1100, 1080,....

In the middle of the 1950´s new model from records were available playing 45 r.p.m. instead of earlier 78 r.p.m. and here Seeburg´s Jukeboxes took over.

Collectors from Jukeboxes speak a lot over the Jukeboxes from the 1950, but the most collectible from those Jukeboxes are made just between 1955 and 1959.
Following is the story from the man who started the production from Seeburg´s Jukeboxes in America.

1886, only sixteen Years old Justus P Sjöberg from Gothenburg in Sweden emigrate to America.

In America he changed his last name to Seeburg, and started working with automatic pianoes.

1906 Justus P Seeburg started his own Piano business, and 1928 he presented his first Jukebox.

This Jukebox Seeburg 161 with " the two tail lights on the grille ", looking like the tail lights from the American cars from the same era, are really collectible items among the people collecting American cars.

Seeburg 161 can be loaded with 80 records and is one 160 selection Jukebox.

The label at the back of the jukebox.

I bought this Jukebox during a visit to Portugal back to 1989..

Those Seeburg 161 has one speciality put in to the Amplifier, matching the Rock´n Roll music which came during the second part from the 1950´s.

When those Jukeboxes start playing the records the soundlevel is low, and increase automatic up to a higher level.

Here we can see the 80 records and the title strips, showing the 160 selections.

Picture over the amplifier.

The item beside the amplifier is the stepper.

With a stepper in the jukebox You can connect wallboxes to the jukebox.

Those wallboxes let You from distance away from the jukebox give information which melody the jukebox shall play.

In American movies from the 1950 and 1960, You can see those wallboxes at each table in the cafe´s.
This is the Wallbox I have connected to this Jukebox, one Seeburg Consolette, the Chrome model SCH-1, made for 160 selections.

This is one special Wallbox with two speakers, and possible to adjust the sound between Low - Medium - High.

It is possible to choose different Wallboxes and I prefer if it is possible to choose with speakers.

If You remember the Movie American Graffiti, they had this type of Wallboxes in the cafe.
